Flocha: How to introduce a fiesty puppy to a 2 year old dog?
We just got a puppy, a 3 month old cairn terrier. We already have a 2 year old pyrenean shepperd who’s been neutered. We need to find a way to introduce the puppy to him, but the puppy seems to be quite aggressive and tries to bite the “old guy” every time she can. What to do?

Drain the puppy’s energy! Try having a huge play session with the puppy alone first so that it’s energy is more like the older dog’s.
Also try giving a “time-out”. During our puppy’s socialization classes the moderator suggested giving the puppy a time-out whenever it was starting to get rambunctious. To give it a time-out, just pick it up and brace it under your arm without affection or verbal communication for a few seconds (15 seconds or more) until it calms down a bit. You may need to have the puppy face the opposite direction from the older dog while in the time-out. It’s very important that it’s without affection and verbal communication, though. This was usually enough to calm a puppy down or have it completely forget whatever bad behavior it was up to. In this case, their short attention span was actually a good thing!
If a puppy was bullying other puppies during the socialization classes, the moderator also suggested the owner play fetch or some other active game with the puppy so that it didn’t get focused on the bullying. It seemed to redirect the puppy’s energy while still being able to meet and greet other puppies.
best of luck!
Answer by AttackofthebearHere is a site although not specifically meant for introductions, it will help you recognize appropriate behavior when introducing them and when they play.
Make the puppy tired before introductions.
