Luke W: How to get framework for social networking site?
I have extensive plans for a new niche social networking site (nothing like fb or myspace). It will require a google maps kind of interface as well as wiki’s. Also people will need to be able to upload pictures, videos, and have their own mini-blog on the site.
Any suggestions for any of these components?

I do this sort of thing for a living. You need money. Those are NOT cheap. In order for you to get what you want in it, you need some programmers and designers to build it for you. Search the web for some web programming services to get in touch with. Create an RFP and submit it to some businesses. Basically, unless you are an incredible programmer, you need some help.
Well without the specific details of exactly what you want to do, it’s a bit hard to help. But from the looks of what you’re trying to do, you might be able to put together a few things (pre existing tools) to help you get what you’re looking for with little wheel reinventing.
For example:
CMS like Drupal or Joomla
Blog like WordPress or Moveable Type
Galleries for the videos/pictures
Wiki’s like mediawiki
JMK
Answer by yabanizewell a good place to start is Ning https://www.ning.com/
and once you have made your network get a domain free domain name from here or you can get a paid domain from here https://www.godaddy.com/ and go into domains in the ning panel and put in the name servers in the domains dns section.
