you should get a secured credit card to build your score before applying regular credit card. read here how to use secure credit card to build score
your title says bad credit score, but your explanation states your credit score was not given to American Express.
there are three major credit bureaus that everyone relies on for credit scores and reports, equifax, experian, and somebody else…
if you’re interested in building a good credit score, pay your bills on time…it’s when you miss a payment for even the slightest thing, they put that in your report..
cheap throwaway credit cards, like Capitol One, those with the $ 250 limit, are also good to build scores with..small purchases that are paid off in a timely manner brings good marks…
Places that give instant credit, like Fingerhut, for their products, is also a good way..buy their junk, pay them off when payments are due, and get the good grades.
Theere are reputable attorneys out there who offer credit repair services, for about $ 20 a month…each month they take various entries on your credit report, contest them with the creditors, and attempt to wipe these entries off your record…usually, within three months or even sooner, you’ll find your score has raised enough to get an American Express card.
Answer by RaidenI don’t understand or get why people think AMEX is a “beginners” credit card. AMEX is one of the hardest credit cards to get to be honest. You must have a decent credit profile, with good depth, time on bureau & strong pay history with very, very minimal to -0- derogatory credit.
Get a secured credit card. Try the Rush Secured Credit card by Russell Simmons. It’s designed for the young & people with impaired credit.
Answer by Mia JacobIf you have poor or no credit history and want to have a credit card, the best option would be applying for a secured credit card. Secured credit cards work just like an ordinary card, but secured by a deposit account owned by the cardholder.
Secured credit card holders are expected to make the regular payments agreed upon, just as you would do with regular credit cards. However, if the card holder defaults on a payment, the credit card issuer can recover the cost of the credit card holder’s purchases by taking money from the deposit.
When you are using secured credit card it is best that you pay on time and avoid having the credit card issuer to take money from your deposit. This is because credit card issuers will often upgrade your secured credit card to regular credit card after a few months of making payments on time.
