How to deal with a kitten who is EXTREMELY hyperactive and constantly needs attention?

moonpie: How to deal with a kitten who is EXTREMELY hyperactive and constantly needs attention?
I got my 5- 6 week old kitten from my friend. (Her mother sadly died). I am aware kittens are meant to be playful and active because they are like little children but my kitten is really crazy. She jumps and runs a lot, climbs walls, curtains, scratches and bites everyones feet and hands. She is so hyperactive that one day she injured herself on the stairs so that makes us even more reluctant to take her out of her room. She doesn’t use her scratching post or play with her toys. Help!

I had a bad situation with a young kitten. Little sucker would get so wound up it drew blood. Especially when we would first wake up or get home and it had been alone. We fixed the problem with a playmate. They had someone to play with and burn energy when we weren’t available. And also young kittens learn from biting each other and thus getting bitten back that biting HURTS.

You have to play with ehr, not just give her toys.
I would keep her in a single room until she’s older. Maybe I’m a worry-wart but I never liked letting kittens roam the whole house unsupervised. I usually baby proof a room and they stay in there.

5-6wks is way too young to be away from mom, I know she’s dead so it’s not possible to take her back. But that’s playing a large part in her behavior.

All you can do is try to play with her enough to kill off some energy and baby proof a room for her. Or even a pack ‘n play would work. You’ll need a top though. A secure one, she will figure out how to get out of it if you don’t lol
