Maybe on his pc, but not yours.
Do you have a Text Edit program on your computer? If so, you can cut and paste your work document and then open it up on a Mac. The computers at where I work use Text Edit programs. You can also copy your Word file to Notepad or WordPad. I have done that before.
I hope this helps.

There are a number of different ways
1) if they have Microsoft Word or Microsoft office on the Mac, they can File Open it from within Word
If you saved it as a DOCX format then they may need a filter for Word to read it
Download and install the Microsoft compatibilty pack for Mac
https://www.apple.com/downloads/
2) If they have Apple Pages (part of iWork) it should open the Word document – again, File Open from within the application
3) they can download and install Open Office https://www.openoffice.org which can open Word documents
4) You can resend the document to them in RTF format or in TXT format by going to Save As… from your Microsoft Word. This should be openable in any word processor or text editor (some formatting and images will be lost) A freeware word processor with RTF and partial .DOC compatibility is Bean https://www.bean-osx.com/Bean.html
5) You can save the document as a PDF (Acrobat) file with Acrobat, or you can install the free CutePDF driver from https://www.cutepdf.com/ PDFs can be opened in Adobe Reader or Apple Preview
Answer by jimgmacmvpEverything that CanadaRA said plus Mac users can use genuine Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote on line for free in Safari or FireFox Here’s how:
1. Go to https://skydrive.live.com/
2. If you already have a Windows Live or Hotmail account you can sign in. Otherwise click the Sign Up link.
3. If you have no folders, click the create folder button to make an empty folder.
4. Open any folder by double-clicking on a folder under the Recent Folders heading.
5. Click New. A submenu offering Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote files will display.
6. Choose one of the file formats.
You may need to accept the offer to try the on-line web applications before the New button is active. You can upload Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote files using the Add files link. You can create, edit and save all formats right on line in your web browser.
The web applications should be available for free basically forever, but they are not the full versions that you get when you purchase and install the boxed product.
The link below has more free Office downloading options, including free competing products such as NeoOffice (which is free and better than plain OpenOffice).
