How to control desktop computer with laptop?

Man Utd ftw: How to control desktop computer with laptop?
The desktop has windows xp, laptop has windows 7. I tried to use remote desktop connection but they never find each other. Step by step help, especially with remote desktop connection, would be appreciated.

XP Pro? Remote Desktop. If the desktop is behind a router, and the laptop is outside, you have to forward port 3389 (in the router) to the desktop.

Hello There!

I have a step by step tutorial for remote desktop on my website here it will walk you through enabling it on your computers.

If you are having firewall issues i would reccomend using Hamachi, its a free software which allows you to create a free VPN in a few clicks which allows you to access all the users on that VPN without firewall issues caused by routers.
