Whippersnapper101: How should I prepare at home for gymnastics?
I’m a 16 year old guy, and I’m hoping to start gymnastics soon. While I wait, I want to start some strength, flexibility, balance, coordination etc. exercises at home (I like to hit the ground running, I plan to go far with gymnastics).
What should my workout/diet plan be for the next few weeks?
Thanks much.

If you want to be an athlete in gymnastics, the best workouts will be push ups, pull ups, and stretching. For initial you need strong hands and strengths, n I don’t think lifting weights will help you with that. What you need is a nice schedule of home workout, and follow them. Do as much as you can, and don’t try lifting weights, it not good for body flexibility. Just keep the routine of exercises and try to do them everyday…
Right after you wake up run or warm up yourself before start.
In the morning: 3 sets of push ups, 3 sets of pull ups, and crunch abs, and stretch
Before you go to sleep the same routine
Day by day increase the repetitions, and in 4 weeks see the result, and fill your hands…
you can also youtube the home basic workouts.
BTW: Jonathan Horton, Olympic silver and bronze medalist, was asked how much time he spends in the weight room. He replied, “I have never lifted a weight in my life.
I am a gymnast. and learning gymnast in an older age is difficult so you should start sooner as possible. based on my experience..i started 4 years old being a ballet dancer then 7 years a gymnast…i learned all the routines perfectly when i’m 9 years old with an instructor of course…and you should be disciplined on what you eat..and stretch everyday don’t stretch too much cause this will cause you pain your muscle then later you cannot do that for weeks…just jogging and any kind of stretching can do a lot..Answer by brandon
you should do tons of stretching excercises, maybe get a 8 pack as well? Especially train ur arms n belly.
