My puppy is 32 days old and is still only on milk. How much longer until he can eat puppy chow?

If he’s still on Mama’s milk, then let him. Solid food should be fine at 6 weeks. Make sure you use a good quality food with meat listed as the first ingredient. Food with corn listed first means the dog isn’t getting as much nutrition, and a lot more ends up in the grass!
You can usually start the introduction to puppy chow when they’re about 4-5 weeks old. They’ll still continue to nurse from the momma dog, though.
They’re usually fully weaned around 6-7 weeks old. (Then they can find new homes at a minimum of 8 weeks).
There are some, who seem to take a little longer with the switch from momma’s milk to puppy chow, but they’ll all figure it out. 🙂
Answer by LibbyYou should have already started him! But start him on wet food then dry food to get him used to it. Talk to your vet.
And if you got your puppy from some one this early it better be because the mother abandoned him! You should never take a pup from its litter earlier than 8 weeks old and 12 weeks is preferable!
Answer by IstaWhen your puppy starts teething it’s time to begin softened puppy food. As his teeth comes in, you slowly decrease the water in the food, until he’s eatting it dry.Answer by Supergirl

I have bulldog puppies now. I started slowly weaning them over to food about a week and a half ago (they are 6 & 1/2 weeks). I started with some esbilac mixed with baby rice cereal, mixing it until its like a runny/oatmeal. i slowly reduced the rice cereal and started mixing in the puppy food I feed their mom. I soak the puppy food in warm water & esbilac for about 30 minutes until it’s soft, then mash it with a potato masher until it looks a bit like oatmeal too.
Over the last week I have reduced the esbilac until I stopped using it altogether, and am still reducing the amount of water in the mix. keep slowly doing that until their teeth are in good and they can chew hard food with ease.
good luck to you!!Answer by blue_vue
