~*~Sweetly Orginal~*~~: How old does a kitten to be old to go into heat?
I own a female kitten, Christine, and I have 2 male kittens, Sylvestor, who is my brother’s kitten, and Junior, who was the runt of the litter and he’s my kitten. So, I’m wondering, how old does a kitten have to be to go into heat? I want to know so I can keep Christine away from Junior and Sylvestor.
Note – Christine is the older of the 3 kittens.

I used to have a female cat and I brought in a male kitten. They were together for almost 3 months with no problems. I think around month 3-4 they start to go into heat and such. I’m not 100% on this though just going from personal experience.
The age at which the female begins her reproductive cycles varies considerably. The breed of cat may affect age at the first cycle, and the maturity of the female (general health, nutrition, size) can also affect the age of onset of sexual maturity. As well, the time of year may impact the onset of the cycle. For example, spring brings lengthening of the days and this may encourage younger females to start cycling. Another key factor is whether she is exposed to tomcats, or queens in heat. Social interactions may stimulate early cycling. A female can start her cycling as early as 14 weeks of age, or as late as1 1/2 yrears of age!Answer by [email protected]
My 2 female cats did not go into heat until they were 9-10 months. I read the previous answers, and I cannot see how that is possible. My grand mom has had about 20 cats, and none of them ever went into heat that early. I went to the vet with my male kitten and she said it will be around 10 months for him to go into heat as well. I would tell you that getting the cat spayed will be much better and even though it is, I have a cat right now with stitches in here from getting spayed and she is driving me up a wall. It is really the best thing to do…but try to get some extra sleep before she gets the surgery, lol. Good luck!Answer by theonebehindu2
I think 6 months but it could be a lil sooner. Keep them separated.. Your male kittens are gonna go crazy with loud crying and meows, they want to get to her and cant.. it drives them crazy.. they only have one thing on their mind and its not eating or sleeping..lolAnswer by Mel R
i had a cat, which was a stray (saha) and she went on heat at about 7 months. i warn you it is not pretty. they will do anything to get out and mate. boy cats will come and pee on ur lawn saying this is my girl cat. and your other two will go ballisticc.
so the best thing to do is get her desexed she wont go on heat then and cant have babies.
or get the other 2 and get people to take care of them while shes on heat.
but she has it every few months.
good luck 🙂

When Christine is 2-3 months old, please go ahead and get her spayed. There’s no way to keep the cats separated 24/7 when the female is in heat. Why risk kittens from a young cat when you can prevent the problem up front? You’ll either do damage to Christine if she’s too young, and she won’t know how to care for the kittens, or you’ll wind up with 3-9 kittens that no one wants and they will wind up in a shelter and being euthanized.Answer by comeonpeople!
Kittens can be sprayed or neuters at 4 months. sometimes younger. You may want to consider that. If you want kittens later there is never a shortage of them. It’s your cat so obviously it’s your decision but I think there are way to many kittens and dogs in the world now. And I have 2 cats 4 dogs.Answer by Wolfi <3
