Dar: How much is the mother at fault in a domestic situation like this?
Curious, when a mother of a child stands by and does nothing while her husband abuses (physcially, metal, emotional, verbal, etc.) her kids and stays married to him, acting as though it was the children’s fault? From an ethical and a law standpoint.

Unless you, personally, turn the father in to the police, then you will too be charged with child abuse.
Ethically its more of a gray area then legally. Could the mother conceivably be charged with something? Yes. But chances are that the mother is as much of a victim as the child is in the abusive relationship. So while the mother owes a duty to her child to keep him/her safe, that duty might be relieved by the duress that she is most likely under.
