sallymollyap: How much do I sell tomatoes for at the kerr market?
My husband and I have a small garden with about 50-60 tomato plants. We are getting so many tomatoes that we can’t eat them fast enough. My husband went to kerr market (I think thats how you spell it) to see if the owner wanted to buy any, he said he wanted to buy them. So my question is how much does he need to sell them for. Also, how much does he need to sell white field corn for.

Well, there are many things involved.
Are they organic (you used no pesticides, artificial fertilizers, etc.)? Are they heirloom varieties? In those cases, I’d ask for about $ 1.50 – $ 2/lb, if you sell for resale. The merchant can easily get $ 4/lb for tomatoes like that.
If they’re hybrids and not grown with much of an environmental, emphasis at all, you may need to sell them for $ 0.50/lb, so the merchant can sell tehm for about a buck a pound. In season, the price of tomatoes really goes down.
Another yummi alternative is to can them fresh, for resale. Also, you could get some nice salsa recipes and sell them as fresh made, canned salsa… In that case, add your cost of canning jars and supplies, add a fair percentage for labor, and divide among the jars you will sell.
Good luck! It is a blast to grow a garden
Answer by susiein our selling to market’s and stores, they want to buy at wholesale prices.that is,if tomato’s are selling for $ 3.00 in the market he will probably offer you $ 1.50 per lb. corn depends on the going price in stores and at farms.here to,you will probably be offered 1/2 of what it is selling for. it’s hard work and seems awful that you have to sell so cheap, but they have to make a profit too.
