Nick Lado: How many soccer balls should I have for practice?
I am about to start coaching a youth soccer team (U-14). I
need to know how many soccer balls I should have to use during practice.

Hi Nick,
It depends on how many players you have and what drills you intend on carrying out. If your practice session is just a kickoff then one ball should be sufficient. If you want to practice free- kick, passing drills etc than more because you will probably have to carry out the drills simultaneously with different people depending on how many players you have.

5 or more. But, make sure your players bring their balls so the burden does not fall on your shoulders. Just as important get a good hand pump to keep them inflated.
So figure you should have one ball for every two players. Also, don’t be worried about the size of the ball. If iot is round, true, and filled with air it is good enough to practice with!
