How many Different Puppy shots should be administered?

I have a 12 week old puppy and he just had his 4th round of shots and is soon due for his 5th Parvo, Corona, etc. I am wondering how many more rounds of shots he will need. I read somewhere that all those shots weren’t good for puppies soooo does anyone know anything about this?

They are needed unless you want your puppy to get sick and die

Whatever your vet is telling you to do, that should be right. If you still don’t feel that so many are necessary, then get a second opinion from another vet. The shots ARE necessary to prevent illness, and disease, but if you feel that he has gotten more than necessary, please consult another vet.

Depends on the brand- most vaccines start out at 6 weeks and need to be boostered 3 times until at least 12 weeks of age. This is only for distemper, hepatitis, parvo and parainfluenza. We don’t vaccinate for corona. Kennel cough is usually boostered twice and Rabies only once. It really depends on where you live and what diseases are prevalent in your area.

According to the latest AAHA guidelines ..a puppy should recieve a vaccine at 6-8 weeks and then monthly until 12-14 weeks.
Corona is really NOT necessary!!!! Rabies according to state laws. Booster the distemper combo the next year and then every three years.

Puppies can be spayed or neutered as early as 6 months old.
Rabies booster shots are one year later and every three years after that.
The DHP-PV-CV vaccination protects pups against upper respiratory and gastrointestinal viral diseases.

I would also get them a giardia shot and a rattlesnake prevention shot talk to your vet about this.

giardia is the stuff you get when you drink the water in mexico. It kind of resembles parvo in a way. But with there water sitting out so regurlarly then the water can get dirty. Or they can drink water out of a mud puddle or something.

I didn’t know that they had a snake vaccine untill a couple of months ago. It kind of builds there immune system up incase they were bitten they would have a better chance. it covers several snakes. I have a dog that tends to run in the woods a lot so she is getting it. The other dog i have she just goes outside so i don’t feel the need for her to get it.

I did not realize anyone gave that many shots anymore. Is this an old time vet?

Mine get 3 rounds given at 8,12, and 16 weeks. Rabies at 6 months. This is standard procedure of my friends and the other local clinics too.

No, all those shots are not good for your puppy.
