At least they’re not live children…Answer by Sir Bloodletter 4
Do you think those kids wouldn’t be starving if I didn’t use my bio fuel?
Starving babies is tragic and it’s the result of a whole host of problems with the culture of the world, and especially the third world, where those starving babies are, not the least of which is too many people popping out too many unwanted kids that they are unable to provide for.
How about attacking the root of the problem instead of throwing blame around needlessly.
And by the way, you don’t need to use food crops to make renewable fuel, and the next generation of renewable fuels will not.
And how many lives can be made better through clean air with the use of bio fuels?
Answer by LeahIt really is tragic that there is such a tradeoff of “green” energies vs human welfare. I am studying environmental management have quite a focus on equity and I am rather against the current status of biofuels. I really can’t stress how awful it is that famines are being drastically enhanced by the use of biofuels, and the consumers of these fuels don’t even know or care! I actually have a friend who is working on a PhD to create biofuels from algae and aquatic organisms. Much more sustainable and much more equitable!Answer by hypnobunny
Burning food when people are starving makes me very angry.
People are starving others while feeling good about saving the planet.
Answer by TonyaI’m not sure I understand your correlation here…How exactly does driving a Prius specifically (and not other cars) cause children to starve and freeze. If you can give me a convincing argument then I will listen but just shouting something horrific doesn’t make it true. By the way, I drive a small sedan, not a hybrid, that gets 40 miles to the gallon. You don’t HAVE to pay out the nose to get good gas mileage.
AND one of the bigger causes of starvation in the world is actually the rise in meat consumption. Ironic, huh? All the land that is going to feed animals for people to eat could be used to grow crops for millions more people to eat instead. It’s sick to me that people want to blame others for starving people and global warming and other problems around the world but are not willing to change their own harmful lifestyles.
Answer by Breath on the WindBy whatever measure you choose ( and your measure might be a reflection on your standard ) the production, refining and use of oil has to be examined very carefully before casting any dispersions on a cleaner solution.
