Ruthann S: How is the best way to find an economical motel for a group of 40 church students going on a retreat?
I am in charge of finding a motel for our youth group to stay in near Columbus Ohio in March 2006. I can use any help possible.

Find the hotels in that area, call each of them and talk to them about who you are and what you are looking for, then you should get a good result. Many hotels have a special deal for Churches and other NPO’s.

You can always call a national chain, tell them you are on a church retreat and try to work out a discount. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

If you are near the area, you can drive around, and observe the candidate locations from outside, and also visit the ones that you like. You may also wish to contact the Columbus Chamber of Commerce or Visitor Center, and ask for recommendations. WHen you are narrowing down to specific location, mention who you are, and your group, and ask if you can get a group discount, or if you qualify, a non-profit discount.
