How is taxation justified and how is it not any different from extortion/theft?

Sivels: How is taxation justified and how is it not any different from extortion/theft?
Is taxation extortion?
Definitions of extortion on the Web:
* an exorbitant charge
* unjust exaction (as by the misuse of authority)
* the felonious act of extorting money (as by threats of violence)

Is taxation any different or does any of the world’s government organizations have some special mystical force (social contract o.O) to them that makes it something else? If not, how is it justified? Tell me what you think.
isurvived how about answering the question?

governments usually justify their on-the-public taxations by claiming that “it goes to the overall well-being of our countries”;the reason why most people hate the idea of tax impositions though is because some/most governments DON’T spend it to improve their countries in reality.

Criminals just love this argument. Paying taxes requires you to report your income. I’m now curious what shady deals and criminal activities you have on the go, or would otherwise engage in that you want to evade taxes on.

amendment i forget of the constitution gives the federal government the right to assess taxes. so there you go and now you know. like it or lump it i suppose.

taxes are legal and extortion isnt.

Depends on who has control of the money; i.e., a fair tax for fixing/creating roads would pay for materials, labor and enough, but not more than, to make it worth doing to honest administrators. Extortion is where Mr. Big overcharges for everything, using his/her office — oh, just think ‘Halliburton.’ Thievery/greed, redefined with $ 67K buzzwords.

“if you want to know the true character of a person, give him power.” I think Abe Lincoln said that.

Governments need to collect taxes in order to exist. Without taxation there would be no government and without government there would be anarchy. That justifies taxation for me but there might be some who see nothing wrong with anarchy, for them there is no justification for taxation.
In principle taxeson are collected with our agreement. Again you might not like paying taxes but, believe it or not, paying taxes makes me proud that I am contributing something to the society and glad that I have an income to pay taxes. The government builds roads and schools with my tax money. Shall they leave it in my pocket I would probably spend it on booze and hookers. (Most of the people whom I know and who bitch about taxes spend their extra income that way)

It’s slavery. At-least the personal income tax. IT IMPLIES THAT THEY OWN YOU AND THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOR, AND WHAT YOU GET TO KEEP IS AN EXPENSE TO THE GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
