CriticalRiff: How is maths used in Music Technology or Sound Engineering?
I don’t really see where it fits in… A lot of courses I’m looking at in good Universities say they want Maths and some want Maths and Physics. For physics, okay, the only thing I can think of is sound waves and possibly acoustics? But even then, there are courses that say they don’t need physics, but need maths. Can someone explain WHY!

Mathematics is the mother of all sciences. It makes the earth revolve. All the courses in the technical aspect needs mathematics.I have heard of many students complain that math is not at all needed in their course. But there is a lot of hidden logic. If you get to study advanced concepts like Fourier series , Advanced calculus and Trigonometry. It gives the “technical feel” to your degree(which is engineering or technology)At least on paper. So you cannot avoid math once you aspire for technical branches.Plus the only way to get rid of math is either you study medicine , law , history or a host of other programs.
