This is for a teen who is home schooled. The university wants her reading list. I’m thinking they want it grouped by nationality of the author and not by the book’s setting.

So, G. A. Henty books would all go under British literature even though he wrote various books about world history.

Yes, that is correct. American Lit, British Lit, not where the story took place but by nationality of the author.
