Answer by PhilGenerally when it comes to medical research and anatomical knowledge, I always wonder how they know what they know and how gruesome discovering the answer was. When it comes to statistics, I like to look at statistics, but when it’s my turn to contribute data for collection I get a bit funny, like it’s personal information. But, before much scientific data was around people turned to philosophers and priests for answers, and they had to come up with them to keep people happy. Now we have scientists who appease this need, but it seems things are getting to complicated and people are starting to scream “can’t we just be taught and teach God did it?” out of laziness. We want answers, science provides. About most things. When someone states something, nothing’s valid without a reference to a study. The “it feels right” argument just doesn’t exist anymore. We need scientific proof that it is. The “it’s just got to be bad – take a look” argument for formulating an opinion is not valid without a study. I guess we are just a little insecure and unsure of ourselves. And science provides comfort in the knowledge that what we think, feel and know is backed up by a study. And there’s always a study to back everything up.
