Marxism really helped closet communists to come out in the open. For a while (and even still today in some countries) communists are the great political punching bag.
Existentialism seems (to me) to be only recently making it’s way into politics. It is basic building block of most secular organizations and, in the midst of an increasingly skeptical youth, is on the rise. In my opinion, existentialism is a very under-appreciated set of philosophies that should be considered in both political and social situations.
Darwinism has caused, at least over here in the US, a lot of heated struggle between the scientific community and the religious community (which basically consists of the entire country). On the other hand, Darwinism has lead to the development of many medicines–most of which is used by the people refuting Darwinism to begin with. Ironic, right?
