His father was becoming weaker and weaker each day. Yet despite the fierce elements, Wiesel made sure he was with his father and he wouldn’t let anyone convince him that he was dying. By the time they arrived at Buchenwald, his father was ready to die. He sank into the snow and pleaded with his son to let him lie down and rest. It was at that moment that Wiesel screamed at his father to get up. He argued that if he were to lie down, he would “never wake again” (100).
He and his father went through so much at this point and it made Wiesel angry at how his father could just give up and let fate take its course.
