SirTabooThe2nd: Are you rude to people who work retail or fastfood because you can be?
It sucks because people know they can be rude to you and you have to serve them because its your job. So when you go to a fast food joint or a retail store are you nice to the employees or do you treat them like dirt because they are paid to be trampled on?

P.S. I work in retail *glares at the rude people* lol.

No, I would be scared to be rude to fast food employees knowing that they could get angry and poison my food before serving it to me.

no, in person i treat others the way i want to be treated, now if you act like an @$ $ then of course your gonna get that in return, and just because they work fast food or retail doesnt mean a thing, some of these kids now dont even know how to act on the job.

I was a manager at a KFC for 4 years. It was the MOST stressful job I’ve ever had working with rude customers all day, picky eaters, then running the inventory, food cost, labor, cash I could just go on.
Hated that job and I genuinely try to be nice to people who are still stuck in it.

Not at all. Most of us have to work for a living and I’m not going to make someone’s life hell. I don’t treat anyone like dirt.

I’m rude when they’re rude to me…

However, in fast food, I suppose you’ve got to be a bit careful because you just never know if they’re going to put “something extra” in the burger.

I know people do things like that but I can’t even fathom doing something like that. Those people waiting on you is doing their job and most of the time they do it with a smile, that alone make them a better person than many. I appreciate what they do and I also try to tip well. I was a waitress for a short time and I couldn’t do it today. Some of the jerks would be wearing their food. I have many times talked with the manager of a place that someone was being unnecessarily rude or crude with a employee and that they went beyond being nice in return, trying to make the customer happy. Believe me the customer is NOT always right. I will compliment as quick as complain.

WHY would anyone want to be rude in the 1st place, to ANYONE?

Believe me, you can get along in this old world a lot more by being kind to everyone you meet. Is this naive? Of course not, because we all know that there will be people who will be rude to you no matter how kind you are to them.

I respect all people who deserve respect, regardless of what they do.

I don’t digest fools too well though and this sometimes does land me in trouble but never with fastfood/retail people, they are usually quite sweet.

no, but i am sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. . . .. . .and the sad part is this slogan “the customer is always right” but don’t feel alone because it’s not only in retail. . it happens in nursing homes too. . .. . .patients refuse their meds and when they begin to feel the pain. .by that time they’ve forgotten that you offered them their meds and begin to complain. . . .saying things like “this nurse didn’t give me my medication”…. . . . .you’re right. . .it truly sux

Absolutely not. i worked in retail for 5 years and in the restaurant industry for 6. I know the hell you deal with first hand and sympathize greatly. Everyone should have a friend in the biz so they know how to treat people. We should write a book.
