For instance is 12 pm in NY, however it 12 Am in Japan….

How does a stock exchange take place when one part of the world is sleeping while the other is awake?

A little hard to trade in your sleep.

You can trade the Globex after hours and pre-market, or you can trade the index futures 24 hrs a day.

Most of the trades are in local companies. Otherwise you take a view.
