Evan: How does the geometry of Trek road bikes compare to that of Scott?
I test rode a Trek 2.3 and it seemed to fit fairly well but I also obviously want to do some other test rides. Another good bike along the same price range is a Scott that I haven’t had a chance to test yet. Any ideas on how the geometry of the two normally compare so I know what to expect?

in fairness both bikes are fairly similar in shape… especially 2008 models…. scott set a standard and trek in 08 has moved to a similar style! ive ridden scott for lats 5 years and its felt spot on! have you tried giant? that will probably give a slight different feel to ride… depending on model!
You didn’t mention what Scott model, different models may have varied geometry. The 2.3 has pretty standard performance angles (it varies on the size) fairly steep head and seat tube angles, short wheel base, seat and top tube about equal. You can check it out yourself on both sites, all the specs are listed.Answer by Dru
Knowing the geometry on the bike will not give you an idea of how it rides. You can figure what size you would need by seeing the specs on a bike, but ride can only be decided by actually riding the bike.
It doesn’t really matter what someone else says about the ride of a bike, everyone has their own preferences and riding style based on previous riding history. I can get you 6 people and 6 different bikes and have 6 different opinions on which bike is the best bike.
I’ve seen people come in saying ” I want bike brand X”, they have never tried any other bikes. They just know they want brand X for whatever reason, I’d say a good 70% of the time after riding that brand with other brands they end up picking one of the others because the feel and fit just seem better on the other bike.
If your spending that kind of money on a bike I’d make every effort to find a shop that carried the bike I was looking for and drive down to try it out. Even if said drive was an hour or more away, if your serious about it make sure the shop has your size and then drive there and test ride it.
