Lia: How does intercourse effect your menstrual cycle and hormones?
I am in a long distance relationship and have noticed that when I am more sexually active, my periods are much more lighter and have a much darker, browner consistency than normal. I am on the pill, use protection and take all precautions, so aside from pregnancy, how does intercourse effect your cycle/hormones? Why are my periods much darker and lighter when I am sexually active, compared to when I am not?

You’d have to ask your doctor. I’ve not noticed that to be true for me.
