Enemy of Ninjas: How does a socially inept geek learn to dance to hip-hop style music?
Senior Prom is coming up and I really want to invite my girlfriend. However, I know that I can’t dance to over 80% of the music which will be played. (I felt like a jerk last year when I invited her and I wouldn’t dance to most of the stuff.) Judging from comments on how some couples need to get a crowbar, many typical dance styles are out. Are there any hip-hop dances for couples that do not simulate sexual acts?

try youtube… you can learn anything on there! just do a good search! 🙂 just type in “learn to dance hip-hop”

Watch movies/buy DVDs with a lot of hip-hop dancing. Imitate the moves. Go slow. Try to chop up the movements into individual steps. Keep repeating the steps until you get them right. Only after mastering the steps do you go for proper speed and tempo…Maybe you can ask a friend of yours who dances hip hop very well to teach you…About your being a socially inept geek – that should not worry you at all. You have a girlfriend, don’t you? Don’t try to impress people or her. Just enjoy, have fun! I don’t think people are really watching you when you dance. They are too busy enjoying the moment. So should you.

i agree. take a few classes, join workshops or groups. then, listen to music often. find the beat. love it. feel it. then let it flow through you r body and soul.

i’m a dancer myself. haha. if it comes from the heart, then i’d say its the best performance. its all what matters. passion… and heart.
