How do you respond to the phrase “Hi, how are you?”?

angel: How do you respond to the phrase “Hi, how are you?”?
Someone you just met walks up to you and said “Hi, how are you?” or someone on facebook sees your profile and sends you a message “hi, how are you” or someone asked for your number randomly while you were walking in the mall and sends a text saying “hi, how are you?” How do you normally respond in these situations?
