thmtom: How do you remove the USB “Safely Remove Hardware” icon on the task bar?
I just installed a new printer. It uses USB to connect to the computer. The task bar shows the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon. It is really annoying because I have no plans to remove the connection. How do you remove the USB “Safely Remove Hardware” icon on the task bar?

go to the control panel and click on ‘taskbar and start menu’ then click on customize and find the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon and then set it to ‘always hide’. click ok and it will be gone.
right click start menu bar
choose properties
at customize
choose the icon
always hide
ok
or just add the hardware by
control panel>printers and faxes>add a printer
then it will be considered as a add on hardware
then the icon wont show again
It is there as a safety precaution and can be removed by deleting the installed program safely remove hardware personally I would put up with it I have a 250 gig removable hard drive for keeping pictures seperate in case computer goes down and I use it all the time its not really so anoyingAnswer by madmac

You can’t! That icon only appear when you got a temperately device attached to you PC. Usually it will not be there for printers. Go to Task bar properties/customise/Safely Remove Hardware…..select from drop down menu and hide it.
