Emily.: How do you really KNOW when to say “I Love You”?
Now, dont say, “When you feel it.” Because i think people are confused by love, im in high school and i feel like after a week people are saying “HEY! I love you.” and I also have a boyfriend, and i dont love him,but what do i call what im feeling?
Sorry if i am confusing.

you have feelings for him.. you like him a lot and they are developing.
people say i love you because they want to feel all grown up.
i don’t think anyone truly knows love until they are older and can learn to appreciate it.

One should really say it if they MEAN it. I applaud you for not being like most people, throwing ‘i love yous’ around. I have actually thought about this question once before myself. It is hard to figure out what to say to a boyfriend if you don’t want to throw ‘i love yous’ around or if he says it generally.
So what should one say? I think it is up to the individual. You care for him i’m sure, you don’t want to lose him i’m sure, so say something about those other feelings that you do have with him. I would not exactly know how to put them in words but just as long as he feels your affection and knows your feelings, then i’m sure he wont feel too bad about no ‘i love yous’ being thrown. If he ever asks about why you do not say it though, then i would explain what you feel. Chances are, he could feel the same.
If he ever tells you ‘i love you’ though, you could say back ‘thank you’ or ‘i care for you’ (and say something after that).
