Anozie D: How do you make a Microsoft word 2007 document work as a Microsoft word 2003 document?
I have finished typing a paper on Microsoft Word 2007 but i have no printer for that computer, so i emailed it to myself and then went on a computer that runs on Microsoft word 2003 but when i try to take out the document something else comes up. So i want to know how to make the document from Microsoft Word 2007 work on Microsoft word 2003.

Download the Office Compatibility Pack on your 2003 pc or save it as a 2003 file in Office 2007.
Go to ‘file’ menu select ‘save as’ on ‘ type box’ select ‘microsoft word 2003 format(.doc);Answer by swat4
Really you don’t have to install the compability pack, it takes a lot of space (like 200 Mb or more) the easiest way is to save your document (using 2007) as 2003 format.
Go to the word logo (a circle with windows log) at the top-left corner.
Click it and hover over ‘save as’
Choose the third option ‘word 97-2003 Document’ and you’re good to go
I used to use both running at the same time and also installed the pack for compatiblity issues but it took a lot of memory once installed.
Note: when opening a 2003 document using 2007 there will be no issues.
Answer by The PhlebobThere are two solutions for this problem:
1.In Word 2007, do a Save As (click the round Office button first) and select “Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)” as the file type.
OR
2.On the machine with the earlier version of Word, download and install Microsoft’s free Compatibility Pack.
Note that this still won’t give the older version of Word the newer features of Word 2007, and there’s a good chance any such features will be lost on files processed by the older version.
Also note that Word 2007 may need to have a file converter installed off the installation disk to handle the older version’s file format
Hope that helps.
