How do you know when Microsoft is offering an xbox live free weekend?

<3: How do you know when Microsoft is offering an xbox live free weekend?
I’m new to all this xbox live stuff and I’ve heard that Microsoft occasionally offers free weekends where for 72 hours all of the silver members get access to the gold member features. I was wondering how you know when these free weekeds will occur, like is it announced on the xbox website? or do you just have to log on and see.

i have never heared of these weekends but i guess the only way to find out would be to go on Live frequentely to see if you have access to Gold features. they will likely either send you a message to your gamertag or your email address associated with your gamertag telling you that Gold will be free for X number of days.
