Cosplay: How do I stop Microsoft excel from rounding down my numbers?
I’m putting together a paper for medical billing codes on Microsoft Excel 2010. Problem is, with medical codes, I have numbers such as 234.0 that need to have that .0 otherwise, it would be incorrect and would be denied by insurance companies for false coding. How do I get excel to stop rounding down and making a code like 234.0 into 234? Have to have that .0 but can’t get it to stop doing so. Thanks in advance.

Change the data type for the column to text, instead of general or number.
That’s not actually rounding. That’s showing zero significant digits. Try this:
1. Select the cells you need to show one significant digit.
2. Right-click in the selection and select Format Cells.
3. Click the Number tab if it it’s not already selected.
4. Set the Category list box to Number.
5. Set the Decimal Places box to 1.
6. Click OK.
Hope that helps.
