casey: How do you buy airline tickets without using one of those travel websites?
Ive never flown commercially. We have a major airport here that serves many different airlines. How do I buy tickets. Do I have to pick an airline? Does the airport list what airlines fly to where and when? I would rather not use a travel website such as travelocity.

First you need to see what airport you want to fly too and what company’s are based out of that airport. If you cannot find a direct flight you will need to find another airport that you can land at to change flights to get to you preferred destination. This can get costly. You can go right to the company’s page to book a flight, no third party is needed. But you get better deals most of the time with the travel sites.
If you are only phobic about online travel agencies, but not booking online in general, you can go directly to the airlines websites.
You could call a local travel agency – they can provide prices from multiple airlines.
If you do not want to do that, call each of the airlines that serve your local airport and ask for prices and possible iteneraries. Both of these options involve service charges that are not added to web transactions.Answer by The Iceman
