wick_chick45: How do they go about piercing the small piece of cartilage near my temple?
Do they use just a piercing gun or do you have to get it done with a piercing needle? thanks!

they stick a fairly long needle through it.
They use a piercing needle, you have to lay down on a table and turn your head, it doesnt hurt AT ALL. You can hear it “pop” but it was definetely the easiest piercing i ever had. Its called your tragus (spelling is probably wrong)Answer by danielle d
i think the part you are talking about is the tragus. I have mine done and i’ve done plenty of them too. I’m a professional body piercer. I know when i do it i first put on gloves and clean the area with alcohol then i’ll mark the spot with a marker and get my client to look at it and make sure it’s right were they want it. next i’ll remove the needle from it’s package. I put the clamps on the area and stick the needle in from back to front so the inside of the ear doesn’t get hit. the jewelry follows after words. As for the gun vs. needle. I know that some shops will do it with a gun but i wouldn’t suggest it. The gun can shatter your cartilage and it takes longer to heal. i hope i was helpful. And don’t be to scarred it actually doesn’t hurt that muchAnswer by ~Leslie~
The guns don’t pierce, they puncture. A proper shop uses hollow needles. Any piercing beyond ear lobes should be done with a needle. The guns can’t be cleaned right, those girls don’t have training and a needle is so much more exact with half as much trauma to your skin. Anyone who says that the guns are even remotely safe is asking for problems.Answer by lt_gunz
They’ll use a piercing needle. If you’re going to someone and they pull out a piercing gun – RUN!! A piercing gun cannot be properly sterilized (as it cannot be placed in an autoclave) and the sudden action of forcing a piece of jewellery through your cartilage can shatter it, and/or cause you to go into shock. Get it done by a professional with a needle.
