I type in my computer name but it says that the remote computer can not be found. I have a desktop connected to the wireless router and my laptop connected to the wireless network. I do not have internet connection on either computer. Please let me know if I can connect to my desktop through the remote desktop connection?

Sounds like a DNS problem.

I suggest you assign static LAN IP addresses to the two pcs; make sure the IP addresses are not in the DHCP pool as shown on the router and that they are not in use.

Make sure Remote Desktop is enabled on the pcs.

Let’s assume desktop IP – 192.168.1.201 and laptop is 192.168.1.202 and you wish to access laptop from desktop. Open Remote Desktop, use the IP address to identify the pc, at the log in use the proper user name and password and you are in.
