Endless: How do I start learning about programming?
I applied for this program, called Excel Tecc, it is a programming class, and during the interviews, I talked with many other students who seemed to have much more knowledge about the topic than me, and before the class starts I want to learn more about the topic because I want to be caught up.
What are ways that I can start learning about programming, books are preferred, but websites are fine too.

You can start here. I’d recommend the HTML classes first. It’s a simple way to learn something, and you don’t need anything but a simple text editor and a browser. Any computer will have those pre-loaded these days. Try using notepad on a windoze computer. I don’t know what you’d use on a mac, though.
A very informative website, kindly stay in website and checkAnswer by Mike S
If you are going to the class I would suggest not doing any research. This way you will learn the information as it is taught by the instructor and not have a false sense of what is actually happening in class. Otherwise you will just be repeating whatever you research.Answer by colanth
Excel is a lot more than writing programs. If you want to learn Excel VBA you have two routes – you can learn programming first (it’ll probably take you 4-6 months) with https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0130224189/ref=pd_bbs_sr_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212765521&sr=8-1, then learn Excel VBA, or you can get Excel VBA Programming for Dummies (or Excel VBA 2007 Programming for Dummies) and just learn Excel VBA.
