Evan Anderson: How do I make an impact on my U15 rugby trial?
I have U15 rugby trials in 2 weeks. I’m fit and am good at rugby but I want to know how to make a real impact and impress the selectors. I play blindside flanker and there are 10 other quality loose forwards after my position. How do I stand out amongst them?

be fast and get to the fly-half as quickly as possible off of scrums and be everywhere on the field (loop and support the backs). also clean rucks and tackles. good luck
As a flanker, what will make you stand out is workrate.
Make as many tackles as you can, stay on the ball in attack, always, always endeavour to be the first guy to the ruck, this will lead to offload ball coming your way.
This probably sounds a bit wanky, but maybe wear a head gear or band so that you stand out and the selectors can go ‘there goes that head gear guy again’, he’s working hard.
Run yourself into the ground, you typically don’t get a lot of shots at a rep side, so you want to make a good impression quickly. If you drop a ball or something, DON’T act frustrated or yell, or let it intimidate you into backing off. Just shrug it off and get on with it.
Good luck.
