How do I keep my kitten from suckeling on things?

oblivionblader: How do I keep my kitten from suckeling on things?
He’s still unwilling to be weened, and on his fellow littermates he’ll try to nurse on anything that slightly resembles the bottle’s binky, particularly the other male kitten’s genital area. How can i make him stop without taking him away from his brother or applying anything that may be harmful to the other kitten?
But how do I stop him from sucking on the other cat’s penis?

They have little tiny e-collars that will not allow then to do that. They are available at your vet. Perhaps in a week he will stop. He can still eat and everything.

if the kitten is 8 weeks or older, its safe to ween him yourself. try putting milk or small amounts of food on your finger.
all animals, like people learn and grow at different speeds.
be patient and consistant. if all else fails, call your local vet, he will have suggestions.

You don’t say how old this kitten is, but it sounds like it was weened too early. They really shouldn’t be removed from the litter before 10-12 weeks, but most people don’t wait that long before getting rid of them.

You will have to take him away from the other kittens but if you do this for only when not feeding he will get the point and learn to eat the food you give him and stop the sucking on everything that he can think is a nipple. If this doesn’t work you may have to go a bit further and separate them all the time and he will start to eat kitty food very fast sense there is nothing else for him to eat he will have to learn and then after a bit of time you can put him back with the others. I just had to do that with one of my kittens last week and the time apart was only the week but the kitty learned very fast that he need to eat the kitty food cause mom wasn’t going to give him what he wanted.

I’m thinking you can’t. He will probably just grow out it. My 2 cats are 1yr old & the 1 still has a fav soft sweater I leave by his food that we call his fluffer cuz when he’s tired he goes to it & fluffs & sucks on it like it’s his mom I guess. He is totally lost when I take it to wash it 🙂 He will do it on other blankets & stuff too but he loves his fluffer it’s like his security blanket. Maybe get your cat something soft too & when he starts to suck on something put him on it & maybe he’ll get the drift eventually & just go to that. I’m not really sure what else to try. Sorry 🙁

My cat, when I adopted him, had been taken from his mother to early and suckled on everything. He eventually found a bear that he loved and would carry around with him. It was usally soaked to the core but I believe it helped him. He eventually grew out of it. I would recommend finding him a soft small toy that he might suckle on instead of his brothers. Good Luck.
