Eh-Lee: How do I go about introducing my family to my boyfriends family?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 5 years and I know his family and he knows mine but our families do not know each other. Should they meet? How would I go about introducing them? I have always gone to my boyfriends family gatherings and he to mine but my sisters and his brothers don’t know eachother and my parents have met his parents maybe once or twice but never formally.. Should I even be concerned about this?
I’m not concerned really just thought I’d ask and see what you guys think..

Why not try a big combined family get-together like a barbecue or potluck picnic supper? You could meet at a park with picnic facilities (I’d sure look for one with a pavillion in case of rain!) and just have a very casual and fun afternoon/evening getting to know each other. You can introduce your family to his, he can introduce his family to yours. Let them get to know each other and find similar interests between them. Or, you could all go out to a restaurant and have a meal together, then go back to one of the family homes to get further acquainted.
You want everyone to be comfortable and involved in this, because it sounds like you and your boyfriend are getting serious. The LAST thing you want to do is have the parents and family members meet at your wedding….
Good luck!
Answer by LVLYLASHESMost of the time these types of situations present themselves if you are looking for the opportunity, I would set up a Bar-B-Que or something in the way of a Party for your or your BF Birthday or even a Holiday; something that both sides would feel semi-obligated to attend if they were asked. Making it a casual event should make for a smooth environment. Music, food, and drinks make sure you consider them all. You could set up a play list that you and BF compile together that incorporates a little something for everyone it doesn’t have to be all one genre make it a nice mix or just keep it low tempo. If it is a theme party, you can always stick with those types of music, foods, and beverages. All these things make for conversation starters.
Should they meet. It depends on how important that is to the both of you. Only you know whether or not that matters. – Good Luck and Remember life is too short to sweat the small stuff… Have fun!
