mcrazypetdude: How do I get more people to feed themselves and their pets a healthy and natural diet?
I am the owner of a small, independent health food store for pets.
I have been in pet foods for twenty years.
I find more information every day through reading and on-line research about how we are poisoning ourselves and our pets.
We Americans are the most technically advanced and over all wealthy group on the planet. We also are the sickest!

I wish I knew the answer to your question. I was just thinking about that last night. Too many people are just too lazy or uninformed about the dangers they’re putting themselves and their families in. I think a lot more people are interested in a more organic lifestyle now than ever though, so that’s a step I suppose. And I am just a waitress, but I can afford to eat smart. It’s not that expensive, most grocery stores now carry organic foods at a good price.
People have to makeup their own minds on this.
Doubt if you can change them.Answer by Tacyella
the more you try to push your ideals on them, the more they will resist… sometimes you just gotta let it go and let people learn the hard way…Answer by ReubenTheTadpole
Maybe people don’t want to be preached at.
We’d all love to eat healthily…but not all of us can afford to be gouged by the organic/natural food industry.
Answer by WillyAs a Singaporean, I have an answer. It is called education. My government spend thousands of billions of dollars each year for education. We have our P.E. teachers telling us (during Trim & Fit Programme for overweight students) & giving us tips on how to eat right. Campaigns and maas-media are useful too.
We had our Health Promotion board doing campaigns all time time, be it exercising regularly eating more vegtables & fruits or simply drinking more water.
Singapore also award certificates(Healthier Choice) to products that are considered healthy. The company can then print the symbol on the products which almost are Singaporeans know(we are taught in school to). This sort of promote the product to the public so companies would try to meet the health requirements where possible.
Get volunteers(Singapore has grassroots) to help campaign for a more healthy diet in your community!

I know what your saying.Ive raised over 60 dogs & own 15 now. That question about feeding their dog donuts blew me away.People dont realize the conciquences of feeding their dogs certain foods as sugar & bread.(bread turns into sugar.) & can cause diabetes & other health problems. They say they love their dogs,,then feed them right.Salt is bad too especially in older dogs so I recommend Nutro dog food for seniors. Also chocolate raisins grapes onions bones are very bad.A home made dog diet that is healthy is fully cooked rice w/boneless chicken,,beef,,fish or liver.Cool completely! Veggies are ok if cooked completely or they are not easily digestable.Milk is also hard to digest & should not be given to dogs or cats.Fruit has no nutritional value.Small amount of potatoe or cottage cheese is ok.No spicey ,,sweet,,or fried foods. Never dispense any medications to a pet ,,only what a doctor perscribes.Aspirin is toxic to cats.Love your pets?~feed them right.Answer by Johnny
Big business and our lack of knowledge is the reason for this quagmire. Big business puts chemicals to preserve the food longer and these chemicals are just poisons to our body. People need to go back to eating core foods. Don’t forget the artificial sugars and chemicals that they are putting in our food and drinks that supposedly are to help us control our weight are very bad for your body.
The only way to get people to change is to educate them. Post health bulletins around your store not just for pets but for man too. A few will listen, most won’t, but the few who do will be an example to others and then others will join in.
Post this; it’s true because it’s about me.
I spent 25 years eating antacids all day long everyday, real bad case of acid reflux and every year I would get a cold or the flu or both. My wife changed the way she cooked, all core food diet, no junk food in house, sea salt only, no hydrogenated or saturated fats or oils and easy on the dairy and now I am free of acid reflux taking no antacids and have only gotten a cold once in five years, no flu. It has changed my life. Change yours…Answer by Jason Homan
Hi!!
Yes, today I readed artile: Get The Facts About Pet Food –
Sadly, many major pet food conglomerates claim that a “dry food” diet of kibble and canned products, should form the only source of nutrition for our pets. But facts…….We also are the sickest!
Natural product, meat, fish — it is natural foot for dog , cat….
I have always fed my dogs on damp meat and fish and it seems to suit them so i stick to that food.
