bayebd24【ツ】: How do I get into my desktop computer if I forgot the Windows user password?
I haven’t been able to use my desktop computer since 2007 due to moving. I can’t remember the PW to get into my account on my computer and I am the only user. Is there a way to reset the PW? I really need to put my documents onto my desktop from my laptop computer.

Unfortunately if you forgot it the only way is to re-install the operating system on the desktop.

You can try this (For windows XP), but this only works if you never set a password for Administrator (Most of people usually don’t)
In the log-in screen. Press your user name and Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and a new window will come up. Type in Administrator for the account.
Alternatively you can also can also start up the computer in safe mode. While the screen is black and the computer is booting, tap the key that enters you into safe mode (Usually F8).
In safe mode, the Administrator account that is usually hidden reveals it self. Just press it and you’re in.
This is how to change your password after getting into the administrator account.
Open up Run (Start menu -> Run or shortcut keys: Windows Key + R)
Type in “control userpasswords2” [without the quotations] then hit enter.
Then reset the password for your user.
Hopefully this helped.

If that doesn’t work (i.e., if you’d also set a password for the administrator account), you can reset it with a live CD:
