NoCents: How do I become an advocate for victims of sexual assault ?
I have been working for two years at my university through my Women’s Center organization to educate students about sexual assault. I am very passionate about helping survivors of sexual assault and after my “dealing with sexual assault” training today I realized I want to turn my passion into my profession. I want to work as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault after I graduate this year and I have no idea how to go about that. Can anyone tell me?

You are a very special person to want to work advocating for victims (survivors 🙂 of sexual assault. Perhaps the county board of social services has a helpline to get more information on volunteering (not sure about paid positions).
Here are a couple of websites that may offer more info:

Answer by Ali BYou can start by contacting women’s shelter, and other social services agencies. You can also start your own non for profit to do this as well.Answer by A F
contact your local rape response center. It should be in the phone book. If not call local law enforcement non emergency # and ask. The instructor for your training may also have some good ideas to share with you.
