Obama’s dividing Americans: How did you get into politics and who influenced you the most on your political views?
I really didn’t care about politics at all until I heard about Obama and what a radical leftist he is, basically freaked a bit when he won the election and was in shock. Never in my life was I involved in politics and pretty much hated it, and anything to do with it. Then I read about Obama’s life , and all he did in his life and what he wants to do to America- its basically consumed my life to try to stop the left from destroying America.
Whats your story?

I was a liberal who supported Obama. Then I suddenly became a Marxist and demanded that the world unite under one banner and to abolish the monetary system. But now I am a National Bolshevik, meaning that I’m a right-winger, who supports capitalism within the borders.Answer by Cal Q. Layder
Jimmy Carter and his administration — said to myself, “Can’t let this happen again,” and then became interested and involved in politics.Answer by Lisette
I did not really care about politics until we had our first child. Then I was like “Wait. They are doing WHAT?” “They are teaching WHAT?”
Then I really started to pay attention and I realized that LIberalism is the WORST thing for a country or its people. Liberalism is hypocritical and a lie and it keeps poor people poor.
Answer by Yellow Go LightlyWell, there’s your problem. You “heard about Obama and what a radical leftist he was.”
Dear? President Obama is not a “radical leftist” by any stretch of the imagination. And if you were alive and not in a coma during the Bush Regime — and were STILL “really didn’t care about politics at all” then you should just shut your mouth and let the adults run the show.
Bush was A CRIMINAL. President Obama is repairing the damage.
Answer by CalvinMy parents were devote Christians, very well educated, and extremely political people. I have basically followed that in upbringing, and have been “political” as far back as I can remember (as a small child).
Those three things are still the more significant drivers in my life (I am no longer a young man).
While it is good to be very passionate about things, and it is good you see the danger in the current administration….take some relief in the fact the American political world tends to swing back and forth. The end of “conservatism” is not on the horizon, and neither is the end of “liberalism”. It’s a endless tug of war. Don’t let it completely “consume” your life.

My deceased husband dabbled in politics and ran for a few offices (which is what got me involved originally). Then I began reading everything and anything that Ayn Rand has written and I must confess that she has influenced me the most when it comes to my political views.Answer by Still Quazee
Well, for many elections, it’s been the choice of lesser of two evils, republicans being the lesser. But this time round, with McCain as the pitiful excuse for the republican side, I knew the democrat party could elect ANYONE over McCain. So, researching 0bama’s background https://theobamafile.com/ told me all I needed to know that this was going to be a disaster. I have posted that link to 0bama’s life, background and persona nearly 9,000 times over the past 18 months on YA, perhaps making some open minded, but air headed, democrats realize their mistake. The liberals have countered this link numerous times, trying to flag it as spam, personal website links, virus source, everything you can imagine to suppress this information.

That’s when I knew I had better start educating myself about the problems America faces and how we deal with them.
It was a wake-up call.
Answer by brucec83What’s the problem? Are you worried that someone might make you get health insurance? Don’t talk to me about Obama being a radical. I have met some real radicals and I have met Obama and he is not one of them.
When I was a kid we were worried that they would come to our houses and drag us off to Vietnam! When I lived in Rhodesia, I worried about IEDs and anti-tank mines planted by pro-soviet and chi-com radicals. When I was with the Border Patrol, I worried about some drug dealer or bandit stabbing me before I could clear leather. Now I have to worry about supporting a family in this crumby economy. Half of these problems were caused by the right, not the left.
My Political Science and Economics professors influenced me the most. Dr. Aristone Chambati of the University of Rhodesia was notable for his views on civil service. “Civil Servants are Above Politics” he used to say.
