People say Family Guy is awful, the worst show, etc. And a lot of people say this.

If this is the popular opinion, why is Family Guy still on?

A lot of people said the same thing about south park, and that’s certainly beaten the sh!t out of family guy in terms of longevity.

The simpsons really takes the cake in that department though, mostly because of it’s family-orientated market.

i dont know. i guess because the show doesn’t hold bask 2 say what they want jews , blacks , whatever racial jokes that’s why people hate it. i happen 2 think its funny of course when i first watched it i couldn’t stand it and thought it should be taken off because of that reason…BUTT the show grows on people

I love that show! I think it’s very popular and the ratings are the only reason it’s still on. People are offended, yet they watch it. That describes me.

The answer is simple. Everyone doesn’t hate it. Neilson’s rating system apparently had enough of their families who thought otherwise. If they had felt like the minority of television viewers, like myself, who thought the show sucked, it would have been long gone. Too bad.

Ok maybe a lot of people say that to you. Not only do I think they are awesome but most everyone I know likes that show. Plus they have been nominated for like a million emmys the last 5 or 6 years…

The actual reason?
When it got cancelled after the first or first few seasons, people bought lots of their dvd’s and merchandise. The network thought that if they were willing to buy a cancelled series’s things then they’d get even higher ratings if they brought it back.
They still get a lto of income from Family Guy.

Honestly, I personally really like Family Guy and find it to be funny. Much like South Park. I don’t know why.

I’ve never heard anyone say they hate it, I was actually quite surprised when I read your question. I, personally, really like the show, I’m probably not as into it as I once was, probably because when at uni, about 3 or 4 years ago, me and my friends had the first three seasons on DVD so if we were bored or there was nothing on TV we would watch them. It got to the point after watching every episode dozens of times that we would near enough word perfect the next words and actions that would happen. Therefore, we probably over did it and I personally needed a bit of a break from it. However, although, as I say, I’m not as in to it as I once was, if I ever watch an episode, especially of later seasons, I remember just how funny and good it is.

I’ll also say most my friends love it, mostly they are in their twenties, also I know my dad is a fan, he’s almost 60. This “negative” responses to it that I can remember are nothing worse than people something like they don’t watch it or it’s not that great, never so far as hating it.

I’ll also point out I am English, maybe there are different views here than there are in America. On that subject, English comedy can often being a lot darker than American comedy so perhaps that could explain differences in views to it.

only some people hate family guy, and it was revived because of very high dvd sales after it was cancelled.
