It did do a fairly decent patch up job under Reagan. You just can’t expect to run the largest economy on earth with that sort of thing forever. There is nothing wrong with using that sort of strategy from time to time, but it shouldn’t be your basis for an economic system. The world and economics are dynamic. You have to adapt.Answer by A Tiny Ripple
Trickle down economics works . . . just what trickles is yellow, not gold.Answer by PoBoy
Because racist appeals and “your values are superior to their values” works.Answer by Jai
One thing about conservatives is that they know how to sell their bullsh!t
My guess is that they appeal to the greed of their voters and keep reassuring them that if they keep mopping those floors they can be billionaires too
Beyond that there’s always the scapegoat, immigrants have your money and jobs, poor people, foreign countries, unions, but of course they never tell the truth, which is unregulated capitalism will kill tou and the country, like it’s been doing
Answer by shidhet“Trickle-down economics” was just a scam to fool people into accepting “globalism” (treason), corporate welfare, and big business smashing mom and pops.
What I don’t get is how anybody could think the Democrats are any different. Clinton did away with the last few regulations that kept us from being completely raped by the banks and corporations, hence the short economic surge as the rich became richer and the middle class began to shrink.
Obama is doing absolutely nothing that could save the USA. He’s simply setting up programs that will allow the USA to run more smoothly as a poor nation. He is continuing the “war on terror” which is really to build more security against us as the economy breaks down and we get hungry and angry. He is just taking the next step in the plan all his predecessors, both Democrat and Republican, started to carry out. There is no change.
Neither party will even discuss the REAL ISSUES. What will help us when there’s a massive trade deficit where much more wealth leaves the country than comes in? NOTHING CAN! But, the “globalism” being used by the “elite” to consolidate the world’s wealth using slave labor is something BOTH PARTIES are all for and won’t even discuss! They both want amnesty too and treasonously refuse to defend the nation’s borders.
This economic collapse is all planned and they are not playing by any rules to do it. Laws are being broken and treason being commited right out in the open and NEITHER PARTY is doing anything to stop it. The “elite” have decided the world can no longer support a large, wealthy middle-class of “useless eaters”. They are simply tearing down the old world system to put the one they want in place out of the ashes. Things need to be so bad, the people will be grateful for it, whatever it is.
So yeah… It’s evil. But, to blame it on only one party is just ridiculous at this point. One party takes one step, the people get mad and then the other party takes the next step in the plan. Giving “stimulus” is the exact same thing. The health of the big corporations no longer has anything to do with the heath of the economy in general. They are in wealth consolidation mode. Any “stimulus” or “bailout” we give them will go into the profits column or to slave labor. It will not create jobs here. EXACT SAME THING AS “TRICKLE DOWN” We need to wake up or we’re done for!
Answer by Bob RatRepublicans do what helps really rich guys get richer.
No exceptions – not once – not ever.
Look at every single piece of legislation they’ve supported in the last 40 years with this in mind. It’s so blatantly obvious, it’s pathetic anybody can’t see this.

Answer by RPrimo is actually correct: it DOES work for the groups that fund the studies that Primo linked to (“think tanks” and politicians that represent rich folks and corporate interests)…of course, that’s only if your definition of “worked” is “functioned as a giant funnel, transferring virtually all of the wealth and income gains of the past 30+ years to the very, very top”.
But seriously, I do not know how vapid prose like “When was the last time a poor man person hired you?” could convince anyone of anything. The last time I saw a rich person actually do the menial task of hiring an employee was on “The Apprentice”.
The data is in: trickle-down has been an abject failure. All folks have to do is look at it.
Indeed, if it actually worked, we would not now be having this conversation, as we’ve been practicing this economic theory for the past 30+ years.
Let me reiterate: if it worked, we wouldn’t be having this conversation…CATO and Heritage and AEI, etc., wouldn’t be putting out bogus studies, as the effects would be plainly evident.
