Gatun: How come the Bible passages Christians like are never bad translations or out of context?
But the ones that bursts their fairy tale bubble, like god murdering people or creating evil (Isaiah 45:7) are always bad translations or out of context? If so many passages are bad translations, doesn’t that mean the whole Bible is nothing more than a bad translation making the whole thing invalid?
I eagerly await the obfuscations.

believers claim the right to rationalize absurdity with a straight face
I know what you mean. As a Bisexual Christian I see that verses are taken out of context often by other Christians. If they knew that they could use verses against me and my sexual orientation, they are only condemning themselves. Especially when they run off to the Law of Moses to tell me that I am a sinner. Think of that, a sinner calling another sinner a sinner. Temporary, thank God.
Luke 12:1
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, “Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”
Galatians 2
19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Answer by Lonesome PolecatCome on. Anyone who believes in fairy tales aren’t rational so why do you torture them with rational questions. It just makes their heads hurt.
