How can you approach a co-worker about their bad breath and body ordor?

imahlah: How can you approach a co-worker about their bad breath and body ordor?
I have this co-worker that smells bad and we do not know how to approach her. So we say nothing. We drops hints, like people need to take showers b/c the chair is starting to smell, but we still have this problem. I use fabric freshner for the chair, but nothing seems to help. We asked her best friend to speak to her and she said that she has been saying something too her, but it does’nt help. What should we do?

If it is really that distracting, and I’ve worked with people where it is, take it to management. Management should be able to solve the problem.

You never know, she might have body order and not be able to fix it. It happen sometimes.. The best of people can not nothing about bad breath.

Do you have to share a chair..?

Do you work with her that much were she is that close you can smell her breath. ?

There is really not that much that you can do other then speaking to her which might hurt her feelings or your boss and see what they can do about.

Just be prepared for someones feelings getting hurt.

It would seem u have two alternatives left, either type her a note and leave it on her desk or where she can see it and gently explain that her co- workers find her hygiene objectable and they r concerned that she may have a health issue that is the cause. or go to ur manager as a group and explain to him/her of the problem. If it is some sort of health problem, she needs to have it checked, if it`s simply lack of personal hygiene then a gentle nudge might do the trick. Working in that environment for 8 hrs a day must get very unpleasant and steps need to be taken. But, tact and kindness is utmost.

Buy her a travel set of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, body lotion, talcum powder, and antipersperent. Put them in a lovely travelbag, and inside drop a gift card signed from all of you……

Good morning. Have you been chewing on your socks again?

Answer by PK
Be blunt! Tell her she smell bad and get it over with. The longer this plays out the more hurt feelings may result.
