Danielle: How can I take apart a wood entertainment center that has no screws or nails?
I have a six-foot-wide entertainment center in my upstairs apartment. It is very heavy and took about 6 people to lift it over my balcony. I don’t have that many people to help me move it out, so I would like to see if there is a way to disassemble it and move it in pieces so that I can reassemble it again. There are no visible screws or nails.

I might have been glued together? If so, you might have difficulty getting it apart. You may not have any choice but to hire a moving company to move it for you.

It probably is held together with small plastic studs. Try using a rubber mallet on a joint. Tap lightly to see if the joint comes apart.

I have a different opinion than others. A large and heavy piece of wood furniture should have nails, screws, or hardware to tie the structure together. The holes could have been hidden by:
. Filled, sanded, and painted over; or
. Wood plugs were used; or
. Laminated over; or
. Hidden by moldings.
In any case, if when you purchased it, it was in a box and assembly was required, then you could take it apart (risking damaging it). If when you purchased it new from a furniture store, it came as is without needing to assemble it; and you can’t find the nails/screws, it means you can’t take it apart.
