How can I solicit new email addresses without being called a spammer/phisher?

jtscrr: How can I solicit new email addresses without being called a spammer/phisher?
I am in a southern gospel quartet. We need to obtain new places to sing on an ongoing basis. I have found many websites with churches’ email addresses listed. But, in sending multiple emails to these places, all with the same message, I am risking being labeled a spammer. How do I go about sending these emails the right way?

If you contact the persons you want to e mail via phone before sending it out or after and let them know that that is you and to please add you to their address book or you can put in the subject line that your intentions are for the gospel.
