Um, just tell them its an olympic sport. What do they do in the oplympics, participate in a range of different sports. If it wasnt a sport, it wouldn’t be in the olympics. Godd luck =>Answer by inphluence

Bring them to a jungle gym/yard. Show off WHAT YOU GOT!
Then tell them they’re stupid.

you just have to ask them if they have the athleticism to do the things you do. i know a lot of gymnastic girls and have dated a couple. i’m a very good athlete, but my body isn’t trained to do the things they do. you have to be strong and have a shit ton of balance. so just kill them with a nice flip or somethin and ask them to do that.lolAnswer by Jamey
Get your instructor to do an open class and invite them to come give it a try! I did gymnastics for well over 5yrs when I was younger. Yes, I am a guy, lol. It was a great sport and was by every definition a sport!!! Takes alot more muscles, strength, will power, flexibility, etc. to do then many other common sports! Snag any one of them and put them on the rings or pommel horse and see how well they do using muscles they have prolly never used before in their lives, lol. FYI, gymnastics and martial arts make a great combo and martial arts is most definitely a sport. ;).
If it helps any, I played football, basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, lacrosse, track & field, etc. So I have done plenty of sport sports! Even did mixed martial arts for well over 20yrs!!!! And gymnastics was every bit as much of a sport as each of the aforementioned sports I participated in!
Good luck!
Answer by AshleyWell, you can show them the definition of “Sport” in the dictionary:
Sport: An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
Gymnastics meets all of those qualifications. There’s definitely physical exertion involved (ask those guys how many pullups THEY do every practice!). There’s also a lot of skill involved; ask them if they can do a tumbling pass, a kip, or a handspring on the beam! Gymnastics is also governed by a very complex set of rules; and of course you compete against other gymnasts. So there you go: Sport!
Now, some people will argue that things like gymnastics or figure skating aren’t really sports because they’re judged… and that the judge’s score is based on opinion, rather than an obvious thing like a touchdown or a basket. But that’s not totally true. The judge’s decision is based on rules, and whether the gymnast followed them or not. A gymnast either sticks her landing, or she doesn’t; her legs are straight, or they’re not. It’s pretty cut and dried.
And guess what? Football, baseball and basketball have judges, too! They’re called referees! Referees make decisions based on opinion all the time — whether the runner is safe, or out; whether the player double dribbled, or not. Lots of games have been won or lost because of a referee’s decision — and angry fans blame the ref for making a bad call! That call is the ref’s ‘opinion’ of how the rules were followed — same as gymnastics! So if you say that any sport that’s judged isn’t really a sport, that eliminates pretty much every sport you can think of!
Of course, there are some people who will never be convinced; people who think that in order for something to be a sport, it has to involve a ball and a bunch of sweaty, smelly guys crashing into each other. There’s no use arguing with them, because you’ll never change their minds — they’ve been bonked on the head too many times to understand logic! =)

this always makes me mad. its a f******* more like physically active sport than a lot of sports. ever noticed how much muscle elite gymnasts have?
yeah i always say” anyone can kick a da** ball. but can anyone do a backflip?”
nope didnt think so.
haha well yeah. tell them maybe that you run everyday.
have a pushup contest?
otherwise just say f you and don’t make a big deal about it.
Answer by MichaelaInvite them to one of your meets, then of course ten bucks says they would be distracted by the leotards and the gymnast and not what they can do.
Okay so this is something that I did, when I was like in 7th grade.
Well these dudes kept on saying gymnastics isn’t a sport, you don’t have a team or anything, well I told them it was, and they wouldn’t beilive me. Well when the teacher wasn’t around, I told them “watch” and I did a backhandspring in the front of the classroom, haha there faces where priceless, so you could do that.
Or just invite them out to an open grass, outside your school, and show them what you can do.
